Trucking, Meal Planning On the Road and the Trucking Life Style

It is no secret that many truckers are severely overweight.

But have you ever wondered why that is?

It is especially curious when you realize that there are also many other truckers that are in excellent shape – yet doing nearly an identical job with access to exactly the same resources as those who are morbidly obese.

The main reason is in the food choices they make.

Some eat smaller quantities and eat healthier foods such as salads, chicken, beef, and other good foods without tons of carbs and sugar.

The ones who do not do so good eat massive amounts of carbs, lots of sugar, and other junk – and usually partake of the all-you-can-eat buffet which allows and encourages them to eat ten times the amount of food they actually need!

So they get fat.

As they continue the trucking lifestyle (long hours sitting in a driver’s seat) and continue to eat this way year after year it wrecks their bodies and causes all kinds of health-related problems.

Some will eventually lose their ability to pass their mandatory DOT physical – and as a result, will no longer be able to drive and earn a living as a trucker. Others will pay are far worse price – they will have a heart attack or a stroke and either die or be forever disabled as a result.

That makes this serious business and a serious issue for anyone driving a truck for a living or even thinking about becoming a trucker.
